Summer is the time to load up the car with the family and take off to places where we can have fun, relax, and just unwind. The problem is that the car ride can sometimes be crazy and annoying. You feel like you are Chevy Chase going to Wally’s World (National Lampoon’s Summer Vacation).
There isn’t a lot you can do about your kids in the car, but there are some great steps you can take to make sure that your dog behaves. Dogs often experience boredom, fear, excitement, and anxiety while in the car. This is caused by improper socialization.
Through proper preparation and education, you can easily socialize your dog to understand that the car ride is a time to mellow out and passively enjoy the moment. We have a great dog training article titled “How Do I Get My Dog Ready for our Summer Road Trip” that explains everything you need to do. Please read it if you plan to take a road trip this summer.
