HAVING A WELL GROOMED DOG

Posted by Bruce Edwards on November 30, 2015  /   Posted in Really Good Pet Food

Groomers can do a really great job in making our dogs look and smell great.  Many dog owners wish they knew what to do to properly keep their dog looking just as great and smelling just as wonderful after a visit to the groomer.  With a little bit of patience and time, many dog owners can always have a well manicured dog.

One of the great bonuses of having a well groomed dog is that your home will smell and look a whole lot better.  You won’t have to lite all those candles to keep the “doggie smell” in check and your vacuum cleaner will “thank you” for not having to clean up all that fur.

OUR SECRET CONVERSATION WITH OUR DOGS

Posted by Bruce Edwards on November 22, 2015  /   Posted in Really Good Pet Food

You might not know it, but you are talking with your dog all the time.  When you pet him when asked, you are talking to him.  When you turn your back to him, you are talking to him.  When you ignore him, you are talking to him.

The problem that all of us dog owners have is that we don’t know we are always talking to our dogs.  Even worse, we don’t know what we are telling them.  Most of the time, we are not speaking too highly of ourselves.  This can lead to behavior and obedience problems that can be very difficult for us to overcome.

The good news is that we can learn what we are telling them and even make an informed effort to manage and filter our “secret conversation” in order to have happier and more obedient dogs.

THE HOLIDAY CAR TRIP WITH YOUR DOG

Posted by Bruce Edwards on November 19, 2015  /   Posted in Really Good Pet Food

The Holidays are now just around the corner and many of us will be packing up and visiting relatives and friends out of town.  We also might be taking our dog with us so that he can enjoy the Holidays with us.  The one thing we haven’t taken into consideration is if our dog will be happy in the car and be calm with the long car ride.

The car can be a very “scary thing” if our dog isn’t used to it.  It can also be a problem if we haven’t taken our dog on any long trips.  If you have kids, I think you know what I mean.  It is important that we make the appropriate preparations before we start on our car trip.

Who is the Boss? Is it You or Your Dog?

Posted by Bruce Edwards on November 07, 2015  /   Posted in Really Good Pet Food

Many people spend a good amount of money to have their dog trained so that they will have a dog that obeys them and doesn’t drive them nuts.  They have trainers over to their house and spend time every day practicing with their dog walking, sitting, waiting, etc.  They do all these “dog training” things and their dog still doesn’t listen to them and is always bugging them to play, let them out, etc.

The problem is that they missed a very simple point in telling their dog “Who is the Boss?”.  They went through the motions of trying to establish leadership, but they missed the bull’s eye.  They didn’t maintain the concept of “Who’s idea is it” to establish the leader and the follower.
